Egalley thanks to Entangled Publishing

This is a brilliant debut from Nina Croft! I've been stalking this book as soon as people started talking about Entangled Publishing (if you don't know it yet - they are the new kids in town, and so far their books look great). Come on! Vampire version of Han Solo? How could I possibly resist?

The book was a very easy read and some sort of a cross between sci-fi and paranormal romance. Ricko is not a simple man, his mind is as devious as Count Saint-Germain's and he plays with Skylar like a cat with a mouse, although he suspects that she is not who she is claiming to be.

Skylar starts by playing a flirtatious big breasted damsel in distress but quickly understands that despite Ricko's reputation as womanizer he is not dumb and he sees through her manipulations. You should hear Ricko's conversations with his ship's captain Tannis about Skylar - they are hilarious.

Ricko's team is very mixed and flamboyant, the interaction between him and Skylar is hot and the whole ride feels like fun!

My only objection is that the book was way too short, and I wanted more details about the mysterious Collective and intergalactic intrigues in general. It felt like we only saw the tip of the iceberg. However I do hope as it's only the first book in the series, that there will be more world building in the future books.

I hope so too, Krysta, as I found I do like a futuristic vampire.
