Honestly, this week is exceptional for very good reads which I can't help but rate very highly.
Take Beyond Control. I read Beyond Shame, book #1 in the series, few months ago and absolutely loved it.
Well, book #2 is even better.
I tried to discuss this with a friend on Goodreads and explain why I think so. As far as I can see, Lex and Dallas are much more complex, mature characters with mutual history together, than the previous couple.
Their relationship, their solitary quest for control over themselves and each other continues for 6 years until it reaches its boiling point, and something or someone has got to give.
And let me tell you, when two such strong-willed and powerful characters clash, it's explosive and scorching hot. There was something absolutely mesmerising about Dallas and Lex exploring the boundaries of their changed partnership, making mistakes and coming to an understanding what their partner really wants.
What adds a lot of spice to the book is its setting. Dallas and Lex live in a dystopian environment of lawless sectors surrounding one of the utopian cities on the planet, Eden. Dallas's gang - O'Kanes, rules Sector Four, and he himself is embroiled in the game of power and violent clashes with other districts. Nothing is simple, Eden is corrupt, and district leaders have to take dealing with its greedy politicians and bribing them in various ways into their consideration.
Beyond Control is also teeming with delicious male and female characters in different stages of development, which makes me hope for many more gorgeous books in this series.
All in all, this book is wild, dangerous, sweaty, full of underground fights, tattoos, kink, mind games and off the charts hot sex, - and none of it feels silly. Read at your own risk and beware of hot flushes.
Highly recommended.
