Deadline (Newsflesh, Book 2)

Deadline - Mira Grant Warning: if you haven't read the first book, don't read this.

OMFG! Excuse my French. Just finished the book and can't seem to get past the point of exclamation marks and incoherent wha..?

This is beyond awesome, people. This is one of those books that will rock your world and leave you wretched for days. I want Blackout now! Why does it have to come out only in May 2012?!

The end, my god, the end is incomprehensible. Or the implications of it.

Shaun is the one who picks up the story in Deadline, and he is barking mad. He lost his drive to be an Irwin and he talks to George in his head. And she answers him, more than that, she actively helps him. When he has a psychotic episode, he can see her talking to him, hear her moving and feel her touch. It's eery.

Deadline continues to unravel the conspiracy, which turns out to be bigger than anyone could have guessed. Shaun is a desperate man, driven by vengeance and the need to finish what his sister died for. He is not the guy we got to know in Feed, and because of his inner turmoil he is even more fascinating.

The sense of urgency and desperation permeates the whole book, and you can't help but be gripped by fear and horrible fascination while reading it. It's like watching a train wreck. Horrible, but you can't stop.

I don't even know how I can urge you to read this series. If you like thrillers, conspiracies and politics along with dystopian zombie-infested world, harsh narrators and bitter truths devoid of any romance, this is for you. READ IT!
