Hard Bitten (Chicagoland Vampires, Book 4)

Hard Bitten - Chloe Neill 4.75/5
If I could sum up what I felt after I finished reading this book, I would have said "Good Riddance!" You know, who I'm talking about :)

As usual Chloe Neill displays superb world-building, tempts us with delicious food of Chicago's best and slowly uncovers vampire politics layer by layer.

It was a very strong book, maybe not my favourite as I like my Merit fighting tooth and nail instead of talking (loved Twice Bitten), but nevertheless a very good one.

I actually really loved the ending and was very surprised by it. Merit has so many options now and a room for growth. I am extremely excited to read the new book - Drink Deep. Is it coming out in September?

In Hard Bitten Merit shows her investigative skills, following the traces of vampire raves gone wild. Ethan needs the situation under control ASAP, as the tensions in Chicago are running high, with lots of protests and fear of vampire population. Mayor Tate puts pressure on him, quasi-military group wants vampires out of town, and Merit's father being as manipulative as usual.

Merit pairs up with Jonah, her assigned partner if she is willing to join Red Guard, but she has to keep all this in secret from Ethan. I really liked Jonah, he was nice and not dramatic at all. Hopefully we'll see more of him in the next installment.

The GP representative was an amusingly pompous asshat, which only shows that I made a right choice wishing for Merit to join The Red Guard. Pretty please?

All in all, a fantastic addition to the series. We got rid of some loose ends and are ready to move forward. Bring it on!
